What is an ALIF Surgery?
ALIF surgery is short for Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion. This procedure is a type of lumbar spine surgery from the front (anterior – through the stomach) that often successfully addresses spinal symptoms with chronic pain in the lower back due to a problem with the discs. An ALIF surgery consists of removing the damaged disc, adding a spacer between the vertebrae, and growing bone between the vertebrae above and below to stop motion and fuse the segment in place.
ALIF Surgery At ONZ Spine:
At ONZ Spine, we only perform ALIF surgery as a last resort after exhausting all other possible motion preservation surgical options such as Artificial Disc Replacement.
